Hide TimeTraces

When you start the time registration, you will not need to interact with TimeTraces again until you want to stop the time registration.  In the mean time, you do not need to have TimeTraces actively open on your screen.

To hide TimeTraces but still keep it close at hand, you can hide TimeTraces in the notification area (the part of the taskbar showing icons next to the system clock).

TimeTraces in the notification area

You can hide TimeTraces in the notification area by selecting "View \ Hide TimeTraces" from the menu.  If you always want to hide TimeTraces in the notification area, it is easier to set the option "Minimize to notification area" in the "Settings" window.

You can double-click on the TimeTraces icon in the notification area to show TimeTraces again.  Another way to show TimeTraces is by setting an activation hot key in the "Settings" window.  Pressing this key (or key combination) will bring up TimeTraces not only from the notification area, but also from a minimized position or from behind other open programs as well.

Right-clicking the TimeTraces icon in the notification area will bring up the hidden TimeTraces menu.  Via this menu you can also use the most basic time registration functions without opening TimeTraces at all.

Note that you can also switch TimeTraces into "compact" display as an efficient alternative; this way TimeTraces will not take up too much screen space, but will still be readily accessible.  More information on compact display can be read on the Different display options help page.
